Meet Our Founder

Introducing Deborah Olayemi, a first-generation immigrant from Nigeria. At the age of eight, she moved to the United States with her family, driven by aspirations for a brighter future. However, adjusting to a new environment negatively impacted her mental health and skin, leading to irritation, acne breakouts, and scarring (hyperpigmentation). Despite trying various over-the-counter products, she could not find the right products for her sensitive skin. This predicament resulted in a prolonged struggle with low self-esteem and anxiety that continued into her adult life.
For the past decade, Deborah has dedicated her career as a registered nurse to prioritizing her patients' well-being, shaped by their lifestyle choices and environmental toxins. This dedication motivated her to develop nature-based products, initially intended for herself and her daughter, who struggled with sensitive, acne-prone skin. After many trials and challenges, she was resolute in refining the formula prior to its public release. This commitment resulted in collaboration with a team of skincare professionals to create a comprehensive line of plant-based products, featuring locally sourced Shea butter from West Africa, which has since evolved into DeVi's Naturals.
What are your goals for DeVi's Naturals?
In addition to skincare, our community requires greater education on skin health and the risks associated with neglecting skin checks. Given the increasing skin cancer mortality rates in underserved populations, it is essential to launch more initiatives aimed at educating people about preventive care and ensuring they have access to healthcare professionals who can diagnose and treat these cancers early. I am in the process of creating a comprehensive, beginner-friendly guide to skin health that offers non-medical insights on topics like recognizing your skin type, establishing a personalized skincare routine, and pinpointing common skin issues. A key objective of mine is to collaborate with local clinics and nonprofit organizations to establish wellness programs designed for underserved communities. Additionally, I aim to provide safer alternative skincare products worldwide, especially for individuals with sensitive skin like mine. The urgency for skin health education cannot be overstated, and I am dedicated to tackling this challenge.
